The Art of Home Lighting: A Guide to Interior Lighting Trends and Statement Pieces

A key aspect of any good interior is lighting, yet with so much variety, choosing the right lighting can feel particularly overwhelming. Lighting plays a critical role in shaping the atmosphere and functionality of your home and getting it right can take careful planning and consideration.

From statement pieces to subtle accents, the right lighting can inject fun, warmth and ambience into your home. In this article, I take a look at the current trends from some of my favourite lighting brands, and highlight some of the products and the rooms they're best suited to.

My Interior Lighting Trends and product highlights for November 2024

1. Soho Lighting: The Power of Mixing Metals

Soho Lighting highlights the trend of mixing metals, an evolution from the traditional uniformity of finishes. Their Schoolhouse Collection allows for bold combinations of glass and metals like brass, for a unique style statement.

I absolutely love their samson table lamp in black marble. Pooky describes it as a 'Powerful and spectacular lamp in beautiful Nero Falaka (rich veined black to you and I) marble' and I couldn't agree more.

3. RV Astley: Elegance in Sculptural Lighting

RV Astley focuses on lighting as sculptural art. Their designs prioritise sleek lines and luxurious finishes, catering to the ongoing trend of minimalist, yet impactful pieces.

I've featured the Reagan Triple Pendant light in a number of my designs as it's simply stunning. Featuring glistening crystals that emit a warm, welcoming light, it's a perfect addition to many interior settings, adding a sense of class and elegance.

4. J. Adams & Co: Handmade Luxurious Lighting

J. Adams & Co is a premium, UK based lighting manufacturer, producing a range of lighting from traditional, to more contemporary-led designs, featuring unique, highly engineered details which sets each piece apart.

Their Strata 1200 Pendant works beautifully over smaller kitchen islands and dining tables. For round or oval tables, multiple pendants can be overlapped in a modern, dynamic composition.

5. Soho Home: Luxe, Functional Lighting

Soho Home blends functionality with luxury, focusing on oversized lighting as a statement trend. Their designs work beautifully in open-plan living spaces, making bold impressions.

Inspired by the bar lighting seen in White City House, the Douglas chandelier has a shallow silhouette that sits close to the ceiling. It has seven white-lit orbs that are partially covered by domed, smoked brown glass.

Key trends you can embrace now

  • Oversized Lighting: Dramatic, large-scale fixtures are making waves as both decorative and functional pieces.

  • High-CRI LED Lighting: Prioritizing color accuracy and natural tones, high CRI lighting enhances interior aesthetics.

  • Layered Lighting: Combining ambient, task, and accent lighting to create versatile spaces.

  • Glass Features: From clear to fluted textures, glass remains a popular material for its versatility and light-reflecting qualities.

Incorporating these trends into your home can redefine how you use and enjoy your spaces. Pairing them with thoughtfully selected products ensures both style and substance in your interior design.
